The Lybeck Brothers
Inducted into the NWSCRA Hall of Fame in 2016
Biography
For over 3 decades you could see a race car driven by the Lybeck Brothers either at Big Sky Speedway or Montana Raceway Park.
Daryle, the oldest of the brothers, started racing in the mid 70's with a '57 Chevy in the C-Stock Class. Younger brother Dirk recalls that Daryle did not have the fastest car on the track his first night out but he won the main event anyway. Daryle served on the Board Of Directors and was President of the NWMSCRA in 1977. Sadly, Daryle left us all too soon from an auto accident in 1978.
The next brother Dan drove a Claimer Class car and then a Street Stock also in the mid 70's. A serious accident where he almost had to have his arm amputated ended his racing career.
The next brother, Duane, whom everybody knew as "Squeek" started racing in the Super Stock Class in 1976 in a '55 Chevy before moving on to a '79 Nova. Duane was always vocal at club meetings especially when it came to rules and safety.
The youngest brother, Dirk, started his racing in the Claimer Class in 1980 in a Buick built by Ken Lapp. Over the many years of his career he raced cars in the Street Stock, Legends and Limited Sportsman Classes. He was on the Board of Directors of the NWMSCRA many times and was club President in 1989. He also served on the Tech Crew at Raceway Park in the mid 90's. Dirk says that even after 10 years away from racing, he may not be done yet!
Congratulations to all of the Lybeck Brothers on your induction to the NWMSCRA Hall Of Fame for 2016.
